What does the structure need?

Less than most owners expect. The lift needs an aperture in each floor it passes through, positioned with the joist direction in mind, and normal head clearance at the top floor. Because the OnLevel structure is self-supporting, the running loads travel down the lift's own tower to its base — the floors themselves carry no lift loads, which is why most townhouses need no strengthening beyond trimming the apertures. Victorian and period townhouses

Fire safety and regulations

A dwelling with three or more storeys carries additional fire-safety expectations under the Building Regulations, and the floor apertures must be formed and fire-stopped correctly. That is handled within the works: the installation is designed and approved as part of the Building Regulations process, the lift itself is certified to EN 81-41 and supports Part M, and commissioning finishes with a full LOLER handover.
