The travel height, the model you choose and the demands of a large modern mansion or a tall merchant's villa all shape the figure, so a domestic through-floor lift usually costs less than a commercial installation. For most Alderley Edge homes none is needed, because the lift sits entirely indoors as permitted development. Conservation areas and listed villas, with the protected woodland of the Edge nearby, are the exception, where external changes can require consent. We confirm where your property stands before any work begins and handle the conservation and building-regulations paperwork for you.

Three to five days is typical for an Alderley Edge installation. Because the lift arrives factory-built and sits in a shallow 150mm pit, the home avoids the weeks of shaft and masonry work a conventional lift would involve. Yes. The grand villas and mansions of the Edge have the height and space to take a lift with ease, placed out of the way and finished to suit fine interiors. The shallow pit and slim footprint link three or four floors with light work.

It depends on whether a wheelchair has to travel. A stairlift carries a seated rider and leaves the wheelchair below. A platform lift carries the wheelchair or scooter up with the user, between the floors. For an Alderley Edge home where a wheelchair is in use, the lift is generally the more capable and longer-lasting choice.

Yes. Servicing is part of every OnLevel installation. Once your Alderley Edge lift is fitted, our engineers come back on a regular plan to inspect and test it, across Nether Alderley, Mottram St Andrew, Great Warford and Marthall, and respond quickly should a fault appear. Routine maintenance keeps the lift safe, reliable and compliant.

Very little. The OnLevel lift asks only for a shallow 150mm pit and houses no separate machinery, so a corner of a reception room or the space beside the staircase is usually enough. That is how it serves the great houses below the Edge, where owners wish to remain in a treasured home for the long term.

Yes. Our engineers hold SafeContractor accreditation under CN8516, and every Alderley Edge lift is built to the EN 81-41 safety standard alongside Part M of the Building Regulations and BS 8300:2018. The work is carried out by our own trained teams rather than subcontractors, and each lift is fully tested, certified and signed off before handover.
